I was reading a heart breaking story about one of the victims of the wildfires in California, and was struck by the notion that if we do not wrest control of our country back from the orange faced turd in the W.H. and his group of criminally complicit lapdog fellow Republicans, that we are in danger of losing our country, and never regaining the life we once had
?
Who's to say it isn't already lost? The most charitable face I can put on it, is that it will be the work of 1 or 2 generations to repair / heal all the damage, assuming it's even possible anymore.
Trump didn't sprung fully formed out of nowhere. He's a symptom, not a cause. We need to soul-search about how he came to be, and what needs to change so that he can never happen again. He's not an anomaly. He's just stepping into an opportunity we created for him.
yes, that is true,it does not mean that we must simply sit by and do nothing
@WayneDalton For our part, we voted, influenced others to vote, and are planning to do some activism work in the area of election reform. My wife manages a social media account for a regional progressive org. And we're working on our overly idealistic son who doesn't want to vote strategically, only "correctly". We hope we can get him to vote for the best candidate in the next election, not sit it out because none of them exactly match his specifications.
Two more years... Til the fix... I hope people get smarter by then...
The senate voters demonstrated the opposite of "smart".
@Petter Those were red states that are heavily gerrymandered. The Blue state senate elections will occur in 2020. The House of Representatives will have the power to expose all of the corruption and hypocrisy beginning 1/1/2019. The exposed truth over the next two years should help create a second blue wave and the orange/red menace will take a back seat.
@kensmile4u I do hope so, for the sake not only of the USA, but of the world.
Your country? Only? The entire planet is at risk from them!
Hear, Hear.
You are right?
