Sometimes for me it's more of a letdown than a lack of respect. Especially when it's someone who appears as a good, productive, intelligent person with whom I share some interests. But, I keep on searching for intelligent life on earth.

Yep! Especially if it’s someone I saw as being pretty smart. I think to myself: “C’mon! You really can’t see through this?”

Especially if they're people that you might otherwise like or respect.

I think that there is an inclination to reason that if the person's judgement is flawed on such an essential matter, "can we trust him/her to make other decisions wisely?"
