Earlier this week another Mars probe landed on the surface to do extensive surveys on soil and give us details of the Planets past and how this section of our galaxy formed. How does some people here feel about it
There is plenty of fiscal dollars that are splashing around on pointless nonsense like all the Butterfly Balls the political executives engage in as a small example of expenditure that could be more constructively allocated. NASA does some great work for the dollars. Many state funded executives don’t. Keep NASA rolling and decommission the commissioners!
We all enjoy a lot of technology that has been developed to support those programs, for one thing. The other is that this is how things are discover. You can't send an email to mars hoping to get all the answers....gotta go there....and everywhere
Exactly right
My kid is geeked AF about it. I think it's cool, I guess... Lol This attitude has been found unacceptable at home, no need to lecture me, further.
Honestly, though, we've got big problems here on this rock that could benefit from some of that space money. I say let Elon Musk spend his money on the space exploration and let's spend the tax money on the people.
@Hebert54 What do guns have to do with spending money we don't have on something we don't need? I can't help but to see space exploration as an "extra" we can't afford, it's the pragmatic mom in me. It's cool, sure, but we're in debt up to our eyeballs. I'm all for coming up with creative ways to finance extras, once we get the basics under control.
The right on spending more money on people, but that money shouldn't be taken from Nasa. Colonization of other worlds is a necessary thing if the human race wants to survive
@Minta79 it's not really an "extra" as we will need more room as the human race grows imo
@ashortbeauty You genuinely believe that colonizing Mars (which is not a "Goldilocks planet" ) at some future point (not in our lifetime to be sure) is more important than feeding, housing and caring for the people on Earth now? That's like saying "I can't pay my power bill, because I'm building a mansion."
To be clear, I'm not anti-space exploration. It's cool. Just let it be privately funded.
@Minta79 I'm saying that expansion will be necessary, thereby investigate. Just like any other scientific endeavour.
