****So busy at the moment with the run up to christmas, hope you all are as happy this time of year as i am
Wow i have not been on for a couple days so today i come on and see the comments on my post and i am bowled over by the sadness. I am very sorry for those of you who arnt really feeling the joy this time of year, i understand. I still have young children so i go the extra mile maybe in years to come i won't who knows.
People are a little nicer that is true but honestly i would recommend looking harder the rest of the year and you might be surprised, mixed in with all the horrible news stories and heartless crimes there are still good strong decent people. They stay hidden until they receive kindness first then they show themselves.
Be the reason for someone to open up today.
My take is, why must it take ‘a day,’ or particular time of the year for people to present joy? I dig January, it’s getting lighter, and the unfortunate ‘holly days’ are gone.
Madalyn Murray O’Hair referred to this as “the christian heat season” … so far removed from its original observations as not to be recognizable amid today's society..
Yes, after the children are grown, it’s easier to ignore. But what a chore it was ..messing with the school related insanity of the season; having to inform various teachers that our children were not religious, and if anything, celebrated the Winter Solstice … as said children got their first taste of being on the outside of this supposed ‘christian nation,’ inside a public school..
It’s more a societal disappointment to me. Grown up, and having found plenty of healthy alternatives, I’m fine … just disappointed, if occasionally disgusted
The only positive I see in this time of the year is that some people try to be nicer and more friendly than usual. Then right after the new year it all goes back to rudeness and road rage drivers. LOL
What are you celebrating Christmas if you don't believe in God (Jesus) ?
...can’t say that I feel the same as you, but I am not unhappy! But, nice to know people can still get into the ‘seasonal spirit!’ Keep smiling and enjoying yourself...cheers!
Love it how the closer it gets... the less engaged I am I’ll begin to determine what day the Winter (up here) Solstice is ..and whether there’s an event worth attending. But usually not… as the frantic insanity continues several more shopping days without skipping a celestial beat
What a refreshing post! I get so bone weary of people only going on about how they hate this time of year. Some of them actually try to make others feel guilty for not being made as miserable by the season as they are! I love the holidays, especially Christmas.
