So, I'm in the local Goodwill today, and pass an interesting guy looking at books. We kind of eye one another, and as I walk past, I ask him if he found anything good ? We get into some easy, slightly flirty, chit-chat. He sort of follows me to another area, we keep chatting.
Just as things are seeming promising , with an easy rapport - I think to ask if he's single - "no". Just then his wife walks up. He introduces us, though she doesn't look at all thrilled ...
Oh well . It was good practice anyway.
Ever meet anyone by happenstance that you ended up dating ?
Yes,spouses are very suspicious of other Women talking to their Men,were hateful looks, and low growls seen and heard?
I don't think that's generally true - unless their mates have shown a bit too much flirty behavior history.
I certainly wouldn't want a mate that got all ornery whenever I spoke to someone outside the relationship ! I find that kind of jealousy highly unappealing.
Oh that sucks.
Trying to figure out how to answer that -- Have I ever met anyone by happenstance I ended up dating? I would say ALMOST. There was the young man on the plane but he was too young so it didn't happen ... There was the mover but as soon as he revealed his love for 45 that was a no go --- the person I am dating now I met here so not happenstance.... My soon to be ex husband and 2 previous boyfriends I knew all my life --
I guess no. Hmmmm.
With the small but measurable percentage of folks who engage in untraditional situations such as swinging or threesomes, one never can rule out anything....lol.
Yes back in the day, when I had confidence, I met several dates that way...in the grocery store, on a plane...now I can't tell how old anyone is and am afraid to embarrass myself.
Don't be afraid to embarrass yourself! I would think a woman would be flattered at the very least.
I just can't get myself to go to the next level of conversation, then i normally don't see them again...
Don't worry about it. Just polish your crazy diamond, and shine. Somebody somewhere is going to love the way you twinkle. Conversation is overrated anyway.
Met most of them that way. A short story author at an open mike; a neighbor; a co-worker; a friend-of-a-friend, playing Magic the Gathering... Only one or two I didn't just basically bump into.
I pity his wife.
Because it's miserable being married to a man who is sending out "available" vibes to other women. That's a man so selfish that he doesn't care if he is hurting his wife, and very cruel if he does this to her in person, and in public!
