So far, so good. I am in a fog, returned from the eye doctor. I have hree more weeks of fear and uncertainty but no retinal tears or holes yet. No active diabetic eye disease. This is as good as I can expect it. The floater will slowly become invisible as my brain learns to ignore it. Next year I can look forward (!) to a procedure that shaves off the surface of my left eye. Sounds disgusting. Also cataract surgery.
that's all. Thank you for your good thoughts.
I'm glad to hear it's going well. Sorry for your discomfort and pain, but it's easier to take that when you know you're making progress. I hope you can find some temporary relief as you heal.
Thank you. Right now, there is no pain, only fear and tension that a tear will develop. But I am an optimist: life will go on.
Had cataract surgery, it's not bad. Have had floaters for about 25 years, and I can still see them; although, at one time the doctors could not see the back of my eye due to the floaters caused by a hemorrhage. They can remove the fluid and floaters in the eye, replace it with water, and the over time the eye fluid will return.
That sounds hopeful.
@Spinliesel I've ust lived with the floaters, occasionally they block my vision a bit, but it's not bad.
At age 51, I had cataract and Lasik surgery. My vision improved tremendously.
Cataracts developed because I grew up on a lake, sailing and swimming. Also I live on the sunny side of the Cascade Mountains of Washington State.
My ex-husband had terrible vision. After he had cataract surgery with Lasik, Terry cried with joy.
"For the first time in my life, I can see individual trees on that hillside!" Terry exclaimed. As an artist, Terry was ecstatic to have perfect vision, and not need contacts or glasses anymore.
Well that's some good news at least. I have cataract surgery in my future as well but not for several years at least.
Cataracts have to " Ripen" before they do a removal,a small incision is made, the bad lens removed, and the new one put in it's place,no stiches,or having to sleep in a darkend room.
What year did you have cataract surgery? I had cataract surgery in 2004.
Good luck...I didn’t know about your diabetes or your eye condition. This news is better than it may have been, so that is positive. ?
I've had Cataract surgery on both eye now,the left in California about 18 years ago,and the right here in Missouri, almost 6 years ago. Both went smoothly,no problems of infections, you will wear an eye guard until the next day when the Doctor will remove it.
Hang in there. Glad to hear the news is positive!
Thanks!
