So, my oldest child (age 34) and I had some prolonged time in the car when she could not drive. One of our frequent topics of conversation was "How will driverless cars change our society?" Someone, maybe cities, municipalities, counties or private business will maintain a fleet of cars to be ordered by you. No one will have to buy a car seat, when you order the car you will include the needed info. You won't have to have a garage any longer, think how that will change architecture. Malls and business won't need miles of parking spaces. Auto insurance will change. Teens won't be at risk drivers and that ritual of teaching kids to drive will be gone. You could order what to be playing on the radio. No traffic jams! Fewer accidents. What else do you see changing when driverless cars are really here?
I think this scenario is a very, very long way off....
Americans have always been in love with their cars - I can't even envision this country walking away from them. I think there will be areas throughout the country that will have some limited success - but I guess we'll see.
