Last night I entertained the greatest fantasy. I found a place, a rustic cabin in the woods where no one would ever find me. The weather is always warm and no bugs of anykind. No one will ever knock on the door and no electronics, so no WiFi and no electricity. Just me and my dogs for at least a week. I'm feeling I really need a break from everything and everyone and from the cold weather here in MN. I need a fresh outlook and to be recharged. Anyone else feeling like that?
I float! Sensory deprivation chambers are becoming fairly popular. I'm too engaged on a daily basis. My schedule is brutal and I have no time to recover. But ever so often, I spring for a float. An hour or so with no sound, light, gravity, or distraction of any kind. For about two days afterwards, I was rejuvenated. Had more energy, and accomplished more than I had previously. It's not something I can afford to do regularly. But, when I can afford it, I will be doing it often.
Sometimes I fantasize about living a semi-hermit existence and that is usually in some cold place like Svalbard or Alaska or Maine where I'm warm in my cabin in front of a wood fireplace. Cold keeps the riff-raff out.
But like all fantasies, it's frictionless in between your ears, not so great in reality.
Yes. I feel like I need an escape from the world. An escape from everything and everyone. Just wish I had the, shall we say, push to do it.
Good for you... it is always good to get lost... I long of those days before the invention of the cell phone. My day today is pretty busy. But I got you... enjoy peace and isolation with your dogs. Back to nature.
Many of us could only dream to have that kind of privilege.
I once vacationed in Arkansas in the mountains, so yes.
It all sounds good. I don't have any pets now, but my dog would have enjoyed that too, if there were water she could play in.
Now, it's not tropical, but I try to spend the occasional weekend on a secluded island now and then. It's pretty refreshing, but since the supplies are limited to what I can pack and paddle in, it's a short vacation.
