'Socialism' is a word now steeped in ambiguity. Definitions, connotations, hyphenations, and interpretations abound. Which one would the meme writer like me to use?
'Communism', though not quite so diluted, also carries some uncertainty baggage around as it too has become a whimpering victim among the world's homeless words.
Using either of these terms in conversation makes no sense unless the parties to the conversation lay out their pet characteristics of each term in advance.
Thank you. Sick of dumbasses who have no concepts and think I'm an evil communist. Ha. I spied on the communists in the cold war. They hate hearing: on paper communism is a great idea, BUT due to human nature it will always fall into some form of dictatorial state. Or, without FDR's socialist reforms the U.S. was in danger of turning even more violent during the late 20's and early 30's. And you can really piss off evangelicals when you remind them that it was liberal minded, socialist evangelicals that helped pull the US out of the great depression.
