DOUBLE THE PAY OF TEACHERS : : : : and : : : : WOMEN DON'T WANT THOSE JOBS . . HOW DO WE GET THEM TO WANT TO?

A solution to the problem:

I think we should, at least, double the pay of teachers. (And reduce class size.) A one year contract is the most basic acceptable offer. Teachers work 12 months. But get paid for 9. This is wrong.

And fur shur, at least, double the pay of nurses, and care givers. And many other very important jobs.

But:: I am sure we should not do that through incentives based upon false-facts narratives.

Problem:::

We are providing incentives to entice young girls into taking studies (STEM fields) for the reward of funding for college, and other supportives. (Thought by some as forceful direction.) So, why should we not provide the same types of incentives for ALL jobs where men are currently the major occupants? And should that not include those jobs and activities that will result in their deaths-on-the-job increasing?

Other words:: Why should women not be required to endanger their lives equally?

Tell me how those two pursuits are different.

Tell me why we refuse to accept that women do not want to do those jobs, no matter the pay, no matter the prestige.

Tell me why we are attempting to manipulate women to do what they do not want to do in the name of equal outcomes, via financial compromise.

Every one should be allowed to apply for any job they could be qualified for. Field-hand to doctor. If you can do it, you should be considered.

Incentives are always subject to abuse. And the outcomes rarely resemble the intent.

Tell me how I am wrong.

Tell me why women should be so privileged and yet demand more than equality. They should die in equal numbers on-the-job. Otherwise, they are getting special treatment. And that, as we all know, is not what feminism is about.

And:: since most teachers are women, tell me how it is not feminist to want to double their pay?

You're all over the park.

Where are you wrong?
Several places but I'll just address the most obvious:

"Other words:: Why should women not be required to endanger their lives equally?

Tell me how those two pursuits are different.

Tell me why we refuse to accept that women do not want to do those jobs, no matter the pay, no matter the prestige."

I know many women who enjoy their time in the army. A while back the Army announced they would allow women to participate in front line combat positions. When I shared this information with some 8th grade girls that were discussing what they were going to do when they grew up, you'd have thought they had just won the lottery. They were so excited that they could join the army, get shot at, and kill people as a job. They both were very confident that this is what they wanted to do with their lives.

@Gwendolyn2018 Brings to mind a few military memories. First one was in basic training (Ft. Lost In The Woods Misery) One evening we were marching (and singing) to mess when the ground began to shake. There was an ominous thunder growing closer. Then we all heard the sound. . ."Kill! - KILL!! - - Murder! - MURDER!! We all became silent and quit moving. The empowered shouts continued and faded into the distance as the formation pounded the ground . . . It was a female (what appeared to be a brigade) quick timing in the distance. We (all male) stood in awe. Our drill sergeant shook his head and said, "I'm glad they're on our side". The second memory was in an air force hanger converted into a gym. A few guys and I wanted to hit the weigh machines so we walked to that section of the hanger. There were two BUFF army women who noticed we were walking in their direction. The expression on their faces and rippling of muscle mass superior to our combined body in each of them prevented us from even getting close to the weights. Looked like they would tear our heads off and spit down our throats for the fun of it if we got close to the weights.

@Gwendolyn2018 You're absolutely right. I once worked with a woman who spent time in an ambulance crew. At first they guys gave her grief: "You're a girl. You can't lift people. You shouldn't be allowed to be with us" etc. She demonstrated she was among the strongest on the crew and they quickly changed their song.

@Gwendolyn2018 Nursing is among the most honourable career choice for anyone mentally strong enough to make the grade. I greatly respect those in that profession.

Unbloodybelievable...sexist and crap. Teaching crosses all genders! In this country the majority of secondary teachers are male.

4000 men die and 300 women How is that equal?
Why are feminists not trying to get more women in the dangerous jobs?

Most teachesr in k-12 are women.

@Jacar how many men have died in child birth? how many men have been raped and murdered? Did you consider these mortality rates ? And this wasn't even a choice.... But the women die anyway...

@Jacar You clearly do not understand feminism.

Clearly you don’t understand how a teachers schedule really works.. but that is not the crux of this conversation.

Women were not able to, and still not welcome to go into many careers because of misogyny. You see many women that choose untraditional careers that face harassment on the regular.

I’m an RN, if you think it’s a safe job we can discuss all the times I’ve been kicked, punched, harassed, pinched and even held a gun at.

Did you die being a nurse?

Should we provide incentives for men to become nurses?

I greatly respect RN's. My (almost) significant other was an RN. I helped her get her PA then she left the state. The only atheist I regularly talk to is a hospice RN. If you haven't run across him, This guy is worth checking out. [zdoggmd.com]

Well said fellow nurse

@Jacar Nurses die in practice all the time. Here in UK about 12 nurses die every year. Before you scoff that number, UK has a 5th the population of USA and very few domestic guns.

Being a nurse is listed as one of the most dangerous jobs in UK, along with paramedics, police and fire fighters

To require or mandate women to take a job that would endanger their lives is not what feminism is all about. Feminism is about allowing a woman the choice ... Men freely choose to take jobs that endanger their lives, but you suggest that women be required or forced into these jobs so that they can be in danger, just like men. Your idea here does not promote equality at all. It's the same thing as other people, namely men or government, attempting to make choices for them... That's not freedom or equality...

Exactly. And women are complainingg about how men are interfering with their choices.

So, how about women choose to be more equal in the killing jobs? Tell me how that is wrong?

@Jacar how about women not choose a job that could kill them ? That's a choice too. How about men bear children instead? Women create life , men destroy it.. Why would you insist that women choose these jobs when they don't want them. Men made their choices regardless of what women said so women make their choices regardless of what men say... You don't seem to realize that its the women's choice... Not yours...
