I just watched "Sorry to Bother You" on Hulu. Everybody should see it. I remember earlier this year it was in theaters for about 5 minutes and got no attention. But is a surrealist comedy about American capitalism with a plot twist I will not spoil.
YES! YES! YES! (i thought i replied earlier? don't see my comment, forgive me if this is duplicated) .... I watched this movie late and was too tired to post about it when i was finished. THANK YOU for doing the job i forgot to come back to. and the end! -- whoa! what a twist!!!!
FIrst, there was little press on this whole movie and the only thing i really heard was commentary on the necessity of using a 'white' voice to be successful. In my opinion, there was more said about personal lines of morality or standards that individuals cross and the motivations they have for doing so, while at the same time, having firm lines they would not cross. the writer, in my opinion, did a fantastic job using multiple characters with these different tiers of tolerance for crossing those lines. One of my favorite snips of the movie was Terry Crews' character when he expressed he had bills to pay.
This is definitely a movie that was made with heart - and the sad part, in my opinion, is that it's not going to be seen by enough people.
Thought provoking and great discussion material.
I started to watch it. Great premise, but it just kinda fell off for me after a while. The same message can be had from a Dave Chappelle or Carlos Mencia skit.
