Yes, ignorance abounds, here, there, everywhere. I often recall the old saying, "I should rather keep my mouth shut and let people assume I'm ignorant, than open it and remove all doubt."

Imagine if people spoke original languages here: so many Native American languages have died off; going simply with colonizers it would be varied: NYC would be Dutch, Delaware Swedish; most of the Southwest and Florida would speak Spanish; French throughout the Midwest, etc.
