I'm at the Crown & Anchor grabbing a steak sandwich. Pretty much the only one there, chatting with the bartender. I ask for the bill, and she said its comp'd. I had gambled, had a drink, but nowhere near enough to justify her comping my food. So I said thank you, tipped her $20. Double the cost of the sandwich, but that's how you do it. Take care of those that take care of you.
Mmmmm. I would love a steak sandwich right now. Yes, take care of those that care!
I used to hate Valentines Day with its focus on couples. Then I found a way to enjoy it. I take myself out to dinner somewhere nice. The people who are working often look really unhappy. So I usually give a tip that's at least half (or more) or the check. I always get away before they see it because I don't want to be thanked. I just hope that perhaps it brightens their day a little. And it makes me smile.
