I’m self employed. My accountant’s estimate is that my taxes will go up $4000 this year mainly due to the new tax law. My income this year will be a little lower than last year. It is maddening. I guess I should be in commercial real estate where I can have magical pass through LLCs instead of software development. We have high property taxes in Nebraska so that cap on state and local taxes hit hard. But those zillion dollar corporations sure did get do their stock buy backs.

This tax season is going to be a wake up call for many. They don't pay attention all year because it's all mysterious and there's no time to sit down and figure it out. Meh.

You could have spent half the time and energy making educated guestimations about Trump and Republicans and known that you were never going to see a break from them ever. I'll bet you can't think of a single thing that republicans have ever done that helped you.

This is when we find out if the "Orange Fuhrer's" tax cut gets us anything additional. I think it all went to the wealthy and large corporations. During Bush/Cheney their "cut" was a "fast one" pulled on the lower and middle class. All they did was reduce the withholding on our paychecks, so those who were expecting a large refund, got a small refund or none at all. Others had to pay up much more than they expected. After I do my 2018 tax form I plan to run the same numbers through using the 2017 tax formula. I'm not expecting much difference. Trumpelstiltskin doesn't give a damn about you or me !
