I went to one who scared the HELL out of me, cracking my neck! Then, I found the one I see now and she's just wonderful! I have an old whiplash injury which still gives me fits, and probably always will. She really helps with that. Yes...there's some "woo woo" in the office but I ignore it.
Yes. A chiropractor treated both the painful symptoms and the cause of my stenosis. Traditional medical doctors wanted to start with steroids leading to eventual surgery, with no guarantees. If you are seeking a chiropractor, do your research. Find one with experience treating your specific ailment. Get references. Just like traditional medical doctors, some are better than others.
Absolute bunk. Do know anyone who was cured of anything by a chiropractor?
Yes. My chiropractor got rid of my spinal pains.
@maturin1919 I'm telling the truth. My spine was hurting. I went to the chiropractor. He did his job. My spine stopped hurting. Something was out of place, and he put it back where it belonged.
Same here...help me with my sciatic, as well as SOME of my other joint problems. Not all, but did help some, and much preferred over popping pills or cutting me open.
@BestWithoutGods I have to agree with @John_Tyrell "What they do right can be done by a registered massage therapist at lower cost.
Anything else is pseudo-science."
They've helped me. I fell about 12 feet and landed on concrete which messed up my pelvis. It migrates out of place occasionally and causes my back to hurt. Chiro care can fix it.
I grew up as the daughter of a chiropractor and there was definitely an anti-medical bias in our house. That said, I think there was some benefit in embracing a less medicalized world view. Personally, for occasional back pains as an adult, I’ve found massage to be more helpful.
Chiropractory is not based on religion. Its based on understanding the bodies alignments and putting various vertebrae back in alignment. If you find a chiropractor that is woo woo, that him/her not the practice. Its a lot like be a mechanic and having two gears gett out of alignment or timing.
we aren't machines. why do people try to equate it to machines. I mean, it is what it is and that is "air" in a joint and the bones hitting each other, They aren't aligning anything they are quacks.
Hey remember Alan on "2 and a half men" was a chiropractor and they nailed it on the show.
Being so sick myself, I can tell you what works for me, does NOT work for others, and vice versa. I take my health as a project that I am managing - with best outcomes for all.
I’ve had good luck with chiropractic for my back for 20 years but I draw the line at my spine. When they try going into other areas I’m fairly skeptical. One was going to cure me with yogurt. Dude, you aren’t going to cure me with yogurt. A stretching thing called Rossiter has worked for me too. It was a bit paunful but got the job done.
I have seen it work in specific applications. Other times, no. So the question is too general even though I answered yes.
I have a relative whose chiropractic speciality is adjusting the plates in the skulls of newborn infants.
I see an ortho/PT for my bulging discs. I've been pain free since May 2008. The PTs taught me tricks to self align as at every visit my spine was out of alignment.
just curious, was there something wrong with the "plates" in the baby's head?
I'm sorry...adjusting the plates in the skulls of newborns? I cannot imagine any sane parent allowing such an insane thing.
@kgoodyear I know none of the specifics. Googling "cranial plate misalignment" pulls ip a lot, though...
And specifically regarding babies:
