I wonder what he meant.
I will not venture to say I understand it perfectly, I will just say that the way I interpret it, is that first, he is not attempting to tell others how to think, he is only asking that they think, and, that he considers "the world of orthodoxy" (I think he means religious orthodoxy) to be one of the saddest states a human being can be in, although he may mean it in a wider sense too, based on some of his other writings . . . .
