So, there's chatter (again) about members using profanity, and how it's "unnecessary".

I swear, A LOT. I'm not going to stop. It doesn't really matter to me if it offends anyone's delicate sensibilities.
It's not a reflection of a lack of intelligence, unless you are being grammatically incorrect while using it.
I like it. I use it for emphasis and to convey specific emotions, usually exasperation or disgust.

If you don't like it, block me, and you won't
have to be subjected to it.
Problem solved. You're fucking welcome.

Well I'll be damned!

The same kind of people that believe there is such a thing as curse words are the same kind of people who believe there are such things as wizards.

Wait there aren't wizards? FML!

Yep. If you have a problem with profanity, kindly take a flying fuck at a rolling donut. We're all adults here no need to police one another. Furthermore if you aren't fluent in vulgarity I automatically suspect of not being terribly bright.

Hey, I'm a New Yorker, I have no problem with curse words, I use them sometimes myself. If someone overuses them or uses them in a mean or derogatory way, to me that says way more about them than who or what they're talking about.

I've said it b4 - you are my hero, rock on girl!!

I have no objection to the use of profanity, but I think it is most effective when used sparingly.

Right! The more we use them, the more others become endured to their effect.

Not "endured" dammit! ENURED.

@AgnoBill 🙂 That reminds me of when I used to go to church, and the Anglican priest would always pray: "Endure thy ministers with righteousness..."

@AgnoBill Endure, enure, endue. All similar words with entirely different meanings! 🙂

I thought we ignored those trying to add too many things to be treated as sacred. Human language is pretty damn diverse. Let people choose their own associations based on their comfort levels.

Fuckin' A!!!!!

I am with you on that . . . . Fucking block me if you do not like it . . . .

It's fucking words for fuck sake! ?

how does that statement in any way contribute to the conversation? 😉

@Jacar out of all these comments you decided to respond to mine. I feel fucking honoured bro ??

@SimonCyrene . . You stand out. Had to acknowledge.

I am in love....you go, girl!!!!

I always thought it was ok to tell people they are full of fecal matter.

It is, when they are.

And this from such an admirer of mine?

I am enjoying the momentary sharing of emotions not expected.

Common ground. We'll take it where we can find it.

Wow...thanks for being so civilized & considerate..

I totally agree with you KKGator. Words that now by some people are considered as swearing were once words that were part of normal everyday language. Who determines what is swearing or not. If you use whatever words to express a message it's more important that the message is understood. If people are offended visiting this site, then they should consider if this site is for them anyway. If it is incidental, just block the one that annoys you.

Swearing Is Actually a Sign of More Intelligence - Not Less - Say Scientists

I don't feel critical of people who object to profanity. In most cases, that's the way they were brought up, and that's their right. However, that is just the way they feel; more and more people feel differently these days, and have little problems with profanity. I have no problem with it myself.

In any case, the block is there for anybody who doesn't want to see the "fucks" and "shits" and "cocks", etc. 🙂 It's just a fact that times change, and profanity is no longer considered a big deal by many. Those who don't like it just have to deal.

I can appreciate that some folks aren't comfortable with it, but they don't have the right to criticize those who are, or to draw conclusions about them based on their usage of certain words.
To that I say, fuck them. Find your filter functions and use them.
Or just block me and fuck right off.

I just read this again with all the wonderful vulgarity and I swear there is a place in the profiles to turn off swear words and get dot dot dot instead? Gonna go look..... It would be dull but probably a happier place for the less wordy? I would miss having a fuck to give though! ?

Source:

[agnostic.com] The next to last setting will turn swear words into dot dot dot .... ?
I wonder if anyone uses that?

Personally, stupid fucking curse words don't offend me. They do however, give the impression that the author could not make a point without using them as a crutch.

That's just your opinion, to which you are entitled. I absolutely disagree with that particular point of view.

If you are causing people to not join and enjoy the site you are not helping the freedom from religion cause. Are you being paid to harm the freedom from religion cause??

Nope. Not being paid for anything.

What's their ducking problem?

I swear that was my phone not me

@OrsonZedd I've trained my phone to stop trying to correct me when I use any form of 'fuck'.
