Well, I didn't get the job I applied for …...I thought the interview went well, but you never know what someone is looking for, or if my qualifications (or lack thereof) just weren't there. I see this as just a blip on the New Year's radar, and my quest continues! I may be licking my wounds this evening, but I know things will happen as they are supposed to happen.
Sorry to hear that and hope you managed to find a good job this year. Bad stuff happens sometimes, but it should not let us down and make us stop fighting. I think I’ve just failed an important exam, and five months of my life have been wasted. I’m devastated, and, at the same time, I think I don’t have to give up because it’s the only life I have.
That’s why I will search for new beginnings in life. This school was just not for me, I guess. That’s why I am looking though job opportunities on Sarkari Result and think it might be a new way in life for me. It’s possible to work without education, too.
If they did not consider it a fit, they may have been doing you a favor . . . . I have quit jobs because I did not like the way they ran their outfit or they were just being assholes, have even been fired before, and almost always, it has been a good thing, because it lead to better things. I worked in the insurance field for six years, was so determined to get out of it and into the IT field that I saved up money and took time off the get multiple certifications in the IT field, all the way up to successfully passing the first half of the CCNA, and got in . . . . you never really know when you go to a job interview. Where I am working now, it took about a month from the point were I applied . . . . but it worked out well, and I like it. Obviously the pay went up too . . . . you can only push in the direction you want to go and be patient and persistent, the jobs are out there . . . .
Sometimes it's just a matter of finding the right fit. Job hunting can be a real pain, but I'm sure something awesome is waiting for you. By the way, have you ever thought about becoming an HVAC technician? It's a hot field right now (pun intended!) and might be worth considering. You can find some good info on how to become one at this link [hvacschools411.com] . Anyway, just wanted to say hey and offer some encouragement.
Hang in there. Learn and improve for the next one.
Can't improve on perfection!?
I spent nearly 1.5 years interviewing to find a job and it was a horrible experience. I don't think interviews (especially phone interviews) are a great assessor of skills and potential and yet it is the most common form of judging a candidate. In addition the lack of feedback and the lack of consideration to the candidate's time is what makes interviewing for a job a task no one likes.
Good luck on the job hunt and keep a positive attitude!
I have found lately that age discrimination is alive and well although one can't prove it.
When I was healthy and working a previous employer would only give me a phone interview. The sales rep job was in New Mexico -I was overqualified and they denied it was age discrimination. Probably should've fought it but my daughter did not want to move and life moved on. I am retired now as you know and it doesn't matter anymore. I'm alive surviving cancer and thats enough.
Keep honing those interview skills for the next one, you’ll ace it!
In this modern confused world they could have interviewed you without the goon knowing that someone else had just been hired. It happens. Maybe it will be better next time, and do not take it personally.
I didn't take it personally. Things happen.
I've never believed in the "Interview" as any means of cognizant evaluation. Its sexist in many ways and always has been. If your good at what you do then you don't need to put into a position that is not going to advance you mentally and challenge your chance to prove your capabilities. I always lived by the notion that your always looking for a new job and a better place to live.
it isn't even necessarily about you. they could've just hired someone they liked even better, even though they liked you quite well. you never know.
(isn't "supposed to happen" kind of a religious phrase in this context?)

Only if you want the comment to be religious.
Onwards and upwards. Well done for getting through to the interview stage.
