With the way we behave, the human race deserves to go extinct.

I haven't read the piece but the way some people behave they deserve to go extinct, preferably as the recipient of a Darwin Award, but I like to think I contribute in a positive way so I will ward off my extinction with as much bloody mindedness as I can....I thank you
I read a paleontology book years ago called 3 Billion Years Of Life. It was written in the 60s so the science is somewhat out of date but the premise still rings true.
The author tried to do an analysis of species' existence time through what we know of geological history. He decided that species typically last 5-10 million years before they disappear.
By that standard we aren't even being particularly successful. We are still far short of that and we're already threatening our own existence. (I did hope our kind would outlast my life though -- fingers crossed.)
Careful what you wish for, it will likely happen
I assumed this some time ago. There is no ability to cooperate for the health of the globe.
