Biological genetic evolution can only react and never foresee.

At some stage in human development; it does not much matter exactly when; the biological evolutionary ground work needed for the development of human language and culture had been completed, and since that day most of our growth and development has been of a technological form. Language and culture being themselves only technologies in the broadest sense of the word, and technology has created almost all that we have gained since then. Yet the truth is, religion and culture being derived from language technology are therefore two things that genetic evolution could never have foreseen, and because genetic development moves more slowly than technology, it will never catch up. We are therefore left as creatures who are almost totally undefended by our genetics against any attempt to reprograme us using language and text. Should we therefore be surprised, that people are happy to do things quite against their own and everyone's health in the name of religion and culture, or that we can do nothing about it.
