I cannot get over the total representation of the United States in this Group. All Ages, Races of open minded individual men and women who all share the same belief or right not to. Your discussions are right out in the open and great to read and take part in.
I especially enjoy seeing all the representation of red states. It's nice to know that even in the most conservative parts of the country, there are still people that question the religious ideas that have been drilled into their heads from a young age. Logically, I knew this was the case, but it's nice to have an opportunity to witness it with my own eyes.
Not everything is America. Canada, New Zealand, Australia, United Kingdom, Thailand, Phillipines, France, Norway, Denmark, Argentina, Cuba, Dominican and a 'Rican!!!
It's because we are not emotionally invested in a belief system cooked up by erring humans designed to either control or extract money from. Glad ya like it.
I agree it is refreshing to see, even more so to have a community where you can share those honest feelings. In this society everyone makes the assumption you believe as they do. If and when they feel you don’t they will attack, ostracize, or worse yet proselytize. I don’t profess to know anything about an afterlife, but I’m positive that neither does anyone else.
I find the internet in general has a very high US representation, how often do you see
www. xyz.com.us?
I think that says it all. The US is quicker to adapt to new tech than most countries.
Not just that. I also suspect that there is a greater dominance by Evangelicals in particular and the religious in general in the US than in most other internet enabled (If I can call the mess Truffles has made such a thing) countries. Leading to a greater need for an outlet. Plus the USA is the third largest population in the world.
You are right, seems to be a broad range of people from around the US, plus the added benefit of the international folks. Enjoy your time here.
Well, you can't exclude the other people from different countries adding to the mix. It's great to have an outside opinion from people who can see from a distance, what can't be seen up close. It also gives valuable cultural insight into different ways of seeing and understanding things.
And it is an international group as well. It is a very welcoming open group, I love the discussions.
Coolio.
I prefer to pipe up when what I have to say isn't an echo of everyone else in the room: I feel like that's more valuable. Often there's value in saying "I, also"...but if 35 other people already beat me to the punch? I'd rather have something different to say at that point. I'm contrarian like that.
Its what the US is supposed to be, right? It's what I grew up with. What is going on out there now is a disgrace to everything I was taught.
It's not our generation anymore.
Indeed, Our Puritan Fathers must be rolling in their graves. Did you grow up in the same country I did? I have to wonder.
With each new generation brings with it change and those changes are interpreted by their needs and wants. With every major change, there is confusion and a period of adjustment. It's not my generation anymore and is no longer suited to my needs and wants. That is progress.
@PhitDoctor50 THAT is refreshing to hear. In this 55 and older complex I was saddened by the number of people that HATE him. After my first week of moving in I was like,"WHAT?!?! Do ya get old and stupid?" I may be 65 but I think young, sad the body is in an alternative universe.
@CapriKious I am not sure what you are saying nor to whom you are saying it?
@Betty When I see the kids today and what they know and what they can do, and their incredible energy levels I have no concerns for the future. The sooner we can get this looney bin into their hands the better for all of us.
@PhitDoctor50 I think you're spot on, professor. This too shall pass (I hope to Buddha).
@Dick_Martin you said it, man. When I'm around my kid and her friends, I marvel sat how smart and articulate these 30 somethings are. And well-educated.
I agree. When there is a major change it is like a big storm. As with any big storm, there will be a mess to pick up and rebuilding to do.
