My friend is like a textbook case of being sheeple. He parrots thoughts of guys like Shapiro etc for cases like how he believes in a dual gender system, when gender is more complex than that. The more he complains it sounds more and more like he is conservative in his beliefs, which I'm ok with, as it shows me the mindset of conservatives (I myself am very progressive and liberal in my beliefs). He even discusses how it should be the parents who teach their kids about sex, and not the schools (in short, just don't be stupid, and condom usage). Death blow right here, he was just discussing with me about the statistics for blacks in the US prison system, and that was a bit unnerving what he told me about it and why it's so high. I usually just shut up, let him talk so I can gauge his position. Granted he doesn't do research on his own for these topics, he just parrots them from guys like shapiro. The one thing is that it tests me, because I really wanted to yell at him to do his own research instead of parroting. I tell you though, once I'm done with working at this warehouse (possibly soon), I will not call him and will probably remove him from my facebook...Another example was dealing with abortions. He makes the exact same case that many of my past conservative friends have made, in disagreeing with Shapiro...that only in cases of rape or incest shoud abortion be allowed, yet after a certain time it should not be allowed.
What are your thoughts on abortion?
Most conservatives aren't as bright as Ben Shapiro, so you get a lot of parroting going on.
Most liberals aren't as brignt as Noam Chomsky, so you get a lot of Noam Chomsky parroting going on.
I suppose it would be a more efficient use of everyone's time if you just had Ben Shapiro debate Noam Chomsky. The conservatives could point to Shapiro's statements and go "See there". The liberals could point to Chomsky's statements and go "See there".
the interesting thing is that I conversed with my friend yesterday, and was bringing up topics like chromosomes, kleinfelters, etc, and he mentioned he knew about them. Interestingly he mentioned that even though his mom is conservative, he claims to read through the issues at hand before voting. Here's his shining example of why gender dysphoria (which is very rare as mentioned in [link.springer.com] would a man call himself a toaster?
Naturally just to shut him up I just agreed with him whatever he said. Apparently though, as he parrots Shapiro, right down to statistics, he doesn't feel the need to do his own research because Shapiro is a smart guy.
