I'd like to think our consciousness is valuable enough to continue in some form after our bodies have crumbled. Though I must admit I do still appreciate the physical form. I would hope since there is so much going on in my head that I'm not quite done at death.

Not believing in a God persona does not discount spirituality and where our conscience may go and what form we may take. I disagree that death is a definite and absolute end.

Value is attributed by a conscious agent. The only agency that actually exists and cares about your consciousness (or cares the most at any rate), is you, and possibly, to a somewhat lesser extent and in a somewhat different way, a handful of immediate family members, or less commonly, friends. None of those actors have the power to preserve your consciousness after death, so it's not looking good for you I'm afraid.

i would like to think it too, but i'd be deluding myself. wanting something doesn't make it real.
