I guess I am just too old and cynical, but I no longer have the desire to attend these kind of protests and participate in the ritual of confrontation and theater with the opposing side. It seems to change nothing and there is no meaningful interaction. Yes, these kids are empty-headed idiots, as most people are at that age, but I don't see what the point was of what the old guys were doing either. Who is it going to change or make an impression on? For whose benefit are they doing it? To feel self-righteous?

The last public event I attended since the Dem primary season two years ago was a vigil at a synagogue for the shooting victims in Pittsburgh at Tree Of LIfe, because that event actually had a purpose and a point to it that I could actually feel it mattered and made a stand about morality that might have an effect on the thinking of others. I seldom feel that way anymore about protest events or political rallies for that matter.
