Many people I meet tell me they no longer listen to the news because they can’t bear the feelings of anger and powerlessness it arouses in them. I tell them I understand, but if they don’t know what’s happening to our country they can’t resist it. They can’t change it. They can’t join with others to find and reassert the power necessary to stop what is happening. As Martin Luther King, Jr., said, "Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter." The injustices and cruelties being perpetrated cannot stand. ~ Robert Reich

I find it much better to try and read what is happening - I know I process things differently when I read than if I see and hear. Watching, especially if there is an image of trump causes me to shut down - like selective hearing in men (just joking).

It's easy to become inundated with it - thanks to the 24/7 news cycle. But you can't stop listening and paying attention. Most of the people that I hear griping right now about things in general either didn't vote - (worse yet, NEVER vote) or only get their news from one news source. Guess which one? 😉

The real reason to listen to listen to the news is not to sooth you or make you feel good. It is to understand what threats and opportunities exist in your world. What are the bad guys up to? Who is trying to pull a fast one? What are the clues about what is really going on? How do people get the idea that the news is supposed to make them feel good?

I have read many polls over time that ask Who is the vice president? Some polls say 30%. At the time Obama was trying to say don't be like that.
