Many if not most people are already unconscious when they die, so I wonder how often anyone actually recalls later the very last thing the person said.... I would think it's not often anything profound. Like my mom's last words turned out to be telling the nurse her age. & she was wrong too.

@Carin -- It varies, of course, and I'm sure many of these famous last words are staged or worked out in advance. On the other hand, some of them are quite likely genuine last utterances.

@evidentialist Wow--planning your last words in advance...I'm sure it's been done but it's something I'd never have thought of on my own.
