Daily Blasphemy: Trust in the Lord? I used to. But he never showed up for work, and still tried to collect a paycheck. So I fired that fucker.
How funny, I wrote that quote somewhere about six months ago...I said I had to let him go... Its good to see it was good enough that someone picked it up!
Yeah that's more or less the problem in a nutshell.
Christian fundamentalist "thought" on this topic is a funhouse hall of mirrors. God only accepts credit for good outcomes; bad outcomes are ultimately all your fault somehow (or Satan's, but if you're a believer, Satan allegedly has no power unless you somehow afford it to him -- sort of how vampires are said to be unable to enter a house uninvited). God has a great gig if you can get it!
After awhile it's put up or shut up time. In my case, people I cared about were suffering and dying. I hoarded my poker chips and only asked for things I really, really needed, and even that couldn't be counted on.
