I believe that if there were actually an anthropomorphic god it would have to be a woman. The universe is held together by four fundamental forces which we don't entirely understand.
If that hypothetical god were a man, everything would be duct taped together.
if there was a god and it was a woman, men would menstruate.

What's that old saying? If men had the babies, abortion would be a sacrament.
So, if I conclude that god cannot be a man, and you conclude it cannot be a woman; where's that leave us.
@btroje since there is no such thing as a god, a god could purportedly be a potato and it still wouldn't exist. only i'd be sad because i do like my home-made fries (as well as my home-made home fries and my patatas bravas.) so i am glad potatoes exist. i am also glad gods don't, regardless of what gender they'd be if they did.

@JimG actually, in reform judaism, that is not necessarily so. the prayer books i have seen now no longer do refer to god as a male. even when they did, god was always seen as genderless but capable of encompassing both. this is one of the reasons jews are not supposed to portray god visually (in a statue, or a painting, for example). i think the male pronoun is used for convenience, and yes, patriarchal habit, but it doesn't reflect the view of the jewish god as all male. the shekinah, the sabbath bride, an aspect of god, is definitely female.

I have often thought if we had a culture with a goddess, I might be more religious. All the s&m imagery with Jesus is just weird.
Carlin agreed with you. Check out about the 3:15 Mark in Religion Is Bullshit.
If Carlin thought the same, I may be on firmer ground than I thought.
I am so glad we have video to remember how cool he was.
@Redheadedgammy This is pure gold.
