I propose we start a new game on Agnostic.com, to be known as "Not That Question Again!" Bingo.
It'll be very simple to play - we just compile a list of questions which appear again and again on this site, then each player is assigned five of them. The first player to spot all five of their questions wins.
Suitable examples include:
Do you believe in ghosts?
What are your thoughts on the simulation hypothesis?
Why do Adam and Eve have navels?
Why don't women reply when I send a private message?
Has anyone here ever heard of Christopher Hitchens/Richard Dawkins/The Flying Spaghetti Monster?
Do you believe in aliens/ancient astronauts?
Did you ever think that Adam and Eve had two sons, but gave rise to all humanity? (Usually followed with Think about that for a moment as though it's really original and deep)
Any other questions you see getting posted almost daily?
do you believe in love at first sight?
i am looking for the perfect man/woman/other to love [but i don't feel like writing a bio, or i have stolen a bio that several other people have used on other dating sites, and i am using the photo of a porn star/athlete instead of my own picture or a picture of a cat, and furthermore i checked all possible answers about my religious beliefs so i am an atheist and religious and everything in between]
this is how you should live your life [insert cliche'd advice here: be yourself, always look on the bright side, bla bla bla]
how did the earth/the universe/evolution/humankind begin?
what if we are all just [insert crazy sf theory here]
i've been here 10 minutes and no one has fallen in love with me yet. this site sucks.
g
That's fine, but I've never seen any of these questions asked, except "Do you believe in ghosts?", which is a profile question.
Guess no one will want me on their team.
A response and a comment prompted by a comment by LimitedLight about repeat questions/posts:
This is the response to [agnostic.com] I disagree. The format is fine as is. We are doing a fair job of dealing with the scammers, trolls, and the like. Witness Trolls, Scammers, and Nigerian Russian Wives:Report Them Here. As for the repeat posts, any place experiencing growth and large membership is going to see redundancy in input. This is not an experiment in IT efficiency. It is a social endeavor that appears to be doing rather well.
You see something you know is a repeat, don't respond. Remember, you and I are not alone and that means that every day there are new people joining this site who have not seen that question. Let them respond to it while you and I move on to other things. Simple. I like simple. Further, ad populum arguments don't fly.
What you are saying here is on the order of, writers should stop writing because there are a limited number of plot lines and they were all used a few hundred years ago.
Those of you who have done any teaching are familiar with the repeat question and should know how to deal with it. For those who have not, talk to a teacher for insight on the issue.
yes. I've been told several times that if I don't like a post... scroll on by.
I agree it works well and as I posted above. (Repeat.) The one good thing is that there is a lot more interest is in the groups, and perhaps the front page helps to filter out the banalities, and displays them clearly for those who want them, leaving the groups free of it to a large extent.
Unfortunately, this is what happens when new people sign on. It's called population growth and, yes it can get tiring.
World's most popular repeat question:
Are we there yet?
World's most common statement:
Daddy, I have to pee.
So if you're new here... how do you find out that these questions have been asked?
@Wildflower -- You don't, and you shouldn't have to. When you were in school, did you know that you were person number 351 who asked the teacher the same question in that year? Don't worry about it and carry on.
I'm posting anything I can think of to get my last few points for Level 7! I actually haven't noticed the woo postings as much as repetitive postings about politics and feminism/toxic masculinity.
All the best on your point search!
Oh yeah, @LimitedLight did plagiarize you. lol
Sounds like some of these are getting to you
