Fashion faux pas or new trend? What do you think of socks with sandals?
My kids always teased me for doing just that: "Dad, you are a typical European." Precision: I only wore the socks and sandals when I was wearing long pants. When I was wearing short I skipped the socks … usually. So I got used to wearing sandals without socks, never the other way round. Finally I reached the stage where I was able to skip the socks even when wearing long pants.
Admission I don't remember whether I was wearing socks when I was kicked out of jail for wearing sandals. Just about 50 m from my final destination in jail I was intercepted by the deputy superintendent of the slammer and ordered to leave: "This is a workplace! Enclosed footwear is compulsory."
I was very annoyed but grateful to have a funny story to tell. So I share the story with my daughter. A few days later I visited a French warship with her. We were offered a guided tour. Suddenly my daughter stopped and pointed at a chart with the different uniforms of the sailors. One outfit included sandals.
Socks with sandals has been a question since I was young. Grew up in the southern US but now live in Vancouver, BC Canada. My feet dry out quickly and I hate to get my feet all dirty so quite often I wear ankle socks. It is also cool here year-round in the evenings so it is practical. Never wear socks on the beach and never wear full socks that go up the calf, that is the line in the sand!
Well, I'm the last one that's going to tell someone what to wear or not. Doesn't mean I'm not silently judging your life choices.
White or black socks with sandals...nope...
Colorful happy colored socks wih sandals....maybe
Really don't care...depends...some people can pull it off and others can't...
Nobody can pull that off. It is like bicycle helmets, nobody living or dead looks cool in either one.
Definitely not anything new here in Florida. That's traditional winter footwear.
My Delightful and Joyous socks deserve to be seen,
