I came across this article as I was trying to seek out more background information about the ties of Betsy DeVos (U.S. Dept of Education Secretary) to the immigration crisis at the border with Mexico( DT's obsession with "The Wall" )... but specifically the detention of children in migrant camps/centers and the number of minor aged children being separated from their families and even adopted by families in the Midwest. Christian charity to the rescue? Or cruel and racist separation tactics? [medium.com]

the religious groups involved in refugee resettlement avoided addressing the bigger matter of the moral implications of the subsidiarist system and instead emphasized their responsibility to help the needy

and they are still avoiding it. It obviously must be very profitable for them to do so and in my estimation it makes the people there feel good helping, takes away their guilt.

Yes, so typical of the religious missionary to only view what they are doing in the very best light rather than see the inhumanity and cruelty of it. The money changing hands seems to be their little dirty secret in this case. I am glad that there is outrage over this. I hope it prompts serious change and lasting reform.
