I wonder if we could have a convention someday. I know we are all spread out but we could pick somewhere like St Louis near the middle of the country. If even a thousand of us came and put in $20 - $40 a piece I would think that would be enough. I don't know exactly how much it would cost to do it but that amount of money should rent a good-sized venue for a weekend with money left over for food. We could have a no-host bar, or a hosted one if we raise enough money. We could sell our shirts at the event to cover some of the expenses. I'm sorry I am new to this site. I was actually intending to post this for our sub group, Sexual Deviants, in light of the fact there is already a well-established atheist convention held annually. Of course all one need to is to join that group. This is more of a sexually themed event as opposed to atheist. If anyone with event planning expertise would be willing to give some advice it would be appreciated.
Just organize the event and call people. Do not need to be big meetings for everyone, Maybe the locals, close states etc.
But organizing an event like this is a lot of work, but is nice good luck.
And document every step to make easier for other events to be organized.

A "sexually themed event"? What do you mean by that? ?
@jojobean Are you in Sexual Deviants? If not, join and it will be self-explanatory. If your frown indicates you think people will be screwing in the bathrooms, you have the wrong idea. As far as your yawn emoji, if you are disinterested it is a non sequitur for you to be making inquiries. I could not be more apathetic about your juvenile displays of boredom, so you might as well save some time and keep them to yourself.
@mooredolezal no, I'm not joining your group. If you make a public post about something, I would think you could answer questions on that post.

@creative51 Nope. I'm not much of a joiner. I am, however, aware that this convention takes place annually, and many who are members here, attend.
If I could afford the trip, I'd consider it. Last year, I believe it was held in Oklahoma City.
Andrew L. Seidel, from the Freedom from Religion Foundation, is usually a speaker at the convention(s), from what I understand.
I hold him in high regard.
He's a brilliant Constitutional Attorney. When he takes the believers to Court to get them to stop violating the Constitution, he usually wins.
@creative51 It's always something.
@KKGator if it's not one thing it's another...

@mooredolezal Thank you for the clarification. Good luck with your endeavors.
Okayyyyy since you edited the post I guess I'll edit this comment. I take back the part where I said I would love to attend, since you changed it to "a sexually themed event". Yeah, no thanks.
It's very possible! I would love to attend something like this.
I've helped plan conventions for several non-profits that I volunteer with tho, and it requires an incredible amount of work, time and manpower depending on the venue/setting.
Yes I was thinking it could take place in the summer of 2020. I was trying out the idea because I knew I had read bios of people in our group that had event planning experience. I would certainly give of my time generously. As we are a subgroup of Agnostics I was thinking we could get some advice from the people having the atheist convention in Cincinnati in April.
Just curious as to why someone open to meeting men, trans women, genderfluids and others and who enjoys hook-up's would have such negativity about a sexually themed convention. You sound pretty open about sex to me.
@mooredolezal what does a "sexually themed convention" mean to you?
