As long as they keep in in the field it's fine.
It's when they move it indoors that I begin to have problems with it.

Cognitive behavioral therapy is supposed to be very effective. So in interviewing a therapists I would ask about that.

I don’t think therapists are bunk but I also think you have to find the right one just like a doctor. I actually think more people should use therapists to maintain their mental health just like you would get a coach to maintain your physical health or you would get a financial adviser for your finances.

Also know what your goals are and talk about the general approach in how to achieve them so you and your therapist are on the same page.

personally, I do not consider psychology science at all, therapy can help, it can also harm.

I've been on the receiving end and I think you will love it if it's your kind of thing. talking can be so much better than drugs.

I've been to two sessions now, and I leave feeling amazing, so I upped it to twice weekly.

brilliant good on you.

Like so many other fields, it's been infiltrated by the alternative medicine group, but I think the science behind it is pretty solid. I like to read a lot of books on the brain and how it works, and a good psychologist can help us figure out how much of our problems are biological, and how much are psychological. They can help us see into our blind spots and find our hidden resources (as well as the many traps).

The brain is amazing, and having someone who knows the way around the attic can help significantly.

I guess it depends. I have heard of people going to therapy for years and it not really helping.

You have to get a feel for the therapist you are working with. If something seems hinky, don't be afraid to fire them; they work for you, not the other way around. One of the first therapists I saw when I moved to where I live now decided to try hypnotherapy on me (I thought it was a crock, but I went along with it), then told me that I had been abused as a child (I knew I hadn't). I immediately found a therapist at a different clinic. Basically, if it feels like woo to you, it probably is.
