Why do people post these either - or questions? Life is not a two dimensional question, true or false, yes or no! Life is a multifaceted experience. Most of the time you have three or more options available to you in any given circumstance. Are some people so fucking stupid they do not realize this? Wake up people, quit limiting your self , open up and consider all the possibilities. Live life completely, it is there for you to do that.
I think people post either or questions because of how they are feeling in the moment. For example, somone posted a question about happiness this morning. I would venture a guess that she was feeling happy (or the opposite) at the moment and wanted to hear what we thought about it. I don't mind. I like the community here and appreciate others' opinions.
We are still at the end of the day animals and animals are all about conservation of energy. It takes great force to motivate the masses. Many people prefer simplicity. Especially people who have a job that consumes a lot of physical force as well as mental which describes many "menial" labor jobs. That I think is one of the differences between liberals especially educated ones versus conservatives, red necks etc. One group has the down time to consider complex answers and multifaceted questions. Poor and overworked people tend to have enough on their plate working, taking care of their family and dealing with managing too little resources for the tasks at hand. Conservatives distilled into Trump have taken that lack of energy or interest in complexity to its logical conclusion simple answers to complex question that appeal to the masses. Add in Liberal condescension and the masses are driven even further into the fold of the simple answers.
That reminds me, we have a thumbs up option but why not a thumbs down option?
I think because they have simplified something that might have been blown out of proportion and just want a basic "yes or no" type of response...they might not want any sort of reasoning for why you choose to believe what you do...not everything has to be that complex...sometimes it takes more intelligence and thought to get down to the basics...some people ramble on and on and still say nothing...some people pigeon hole those who have alternative methods of communication that are just as valid
@creative51 I was not disagreeing with you, you are correct...just offering possible reasons why without disparaging anyone for their views...
@creative51 Just don't do what you ask others not to do...most of the time I find the context of your posts to be spot on but the content sometimes has the finger pointing right back at you...
@creative51 lol...we all have room for improvement...as writers, we are much more aware of the power of words and the inferences and often misunderstandings that even one misplaced (or purposely placed!) one can have in the overall content...you are close to perfect...I see you evolving daily...ha ha ha
I see no problems with either/or questions. They don't make life two dimensional. You can ask more than one question, you know? Don't call people stupid for asking questions. You can disagree with how some questions are phrased but sometimes what you need is just simple either/or questions. Is 2+2=4? Should you kill your child because a god told you so? Is climate change happening? Just tell me if you have a problem with those questions.
@creative51 I don't know which specific examples you mean but yes, there are definitely false dichotomies made all the time. But in these cases I'd say it is more helpful to show people how the questioning is flawed than to call them stupid.
@creative51 I understand. Let's all hope for more good days for everybody
@creative51 I'm glad you clarified what you meant by the yes or no peeve, because I was close to asking you if you wanted a beer.
