We should have evolved away from the monetary system long ago.

when i lived in communes we worked and earned and shared our money on a basis of hierarchy of needs - some people needed money to visit their families etc. It came out of the communal pot and we rarely voted because we nearly always had agreement.

I get into trouble when I object to voting on an idea. It's all about consensus, If you don't have consensus you best stop and figure out how to get it before driving in wedges that become lethal to the group.
