Maybe some of us want to remain anonymous because we work professionally. If someone thought someone is interesting, why not strike up a conversation? You cannot assume someone is ugly just because they don't post a picture. But people get in trouble for choosing someone solely based on looks. And most people don't even look like their picture.

Identity theft & data mining are already far too easy to do. The practices are not only common, they're nearly ubiquitous. I'm not just going to hand the keys over to bad players.

Maybe they're ugly..or don't really want to attract a date, since most men respond to appearance.

I ask the same thing about people not using there real names

Even if they wish to hide, and they may have good reasons for that, they can still find an amusing picture surely. I think it is just can't be bothered.

Either that, or they want people to know in advance that it is a boring banal post they copied from the web, the two seem to go together.

I find it creepy. I hate that blank face...anything would be better, even the ugliest mug!
