His base doesn't care that he lies, that he's corrupt, that he's racist, that his entire network of friends and accomplices are criminals, that there's credible potential that he's a traitor who's compromised by a hostile foreign power, that he's objectively stupid and can't string together a coherent thought, nothing matters to them. Nothing whatsoever.
This is a sickness of some kind and I'm going to take the lead and give it a name -- Trump Supporter Disorder. A neurological condition characterized by willful ignorance, selective amnesia, misplaced hero worship and an overall political idiocy that affects conservatives and for which there is no known cure.
There is literally nothing their hero can do that will convince those who suffer from TSD that Trump is anything but a great man and a great leader based on nothing at all to support this idea and ignoring all evidence against it.
In that regard TSD is a lot like a religion with Trump as their Jesus. Yeah, it's that messed up.
marx said 'religion is the opium of the people'
for desperate people trump is their religion.
It's a detrimental fact of human psychology that can be observed at any point in history throughout the ages, most obviously with Christians. The Crusades come to mind. But knowing that humans by nature are easily influenced, fooled, and then frustratingly difficult to convince logically away from their prejudices is to know the way man works. It's not suprising that hypocrites love a hypocrit, that self-righteous love self-righteous, that fools worship a fool and his ignorant stories. All the same, this sad fact of human nature has gripped our nation and influenced innocent lives. More people need to learn about psychology and how the human mind works. More of the public need to be educated on things that truly matter and more should be done to cultivate healthy emotional hygiene among the unwashed masses. As a nation we are still in our infancy, still clinging as a majority to false idols and celebrities and religion over science and scholars and humanitarians. We can't change the system but we can influence in little ways one mind at a time by learning more about psychology and promoting that knowledge where possible in order to plant seeds in the minds of good people the potential for realization and growth away from current unhealthy belief systems. Learning about psychology too can take away some of the arrogance that that turns would-be inquisitive minds off to more logical paths. If the only atheists you ever meet are all arrogant jerks and speak in such a way as to shame you, you will automatically be significantly less likely to feel compelled to their way of thinking, no matter how rational and logical. So, friends, to your Trump supporters and theists and tradition-bound sheeple I challenge you learn how best to speak to them--to befriend and hear them, to converse with them and plant the seeds of curiosity, truth, and reason so that we may all move collectively towards a future with a brighter horizon.
Trump is the greatest president of my lifetime - he's for America. Stupid people think he is racist - he is not. And he doesnt lie - he exagerates, or his numbers are slightly off, intelligent people understand the distinction. Its so easy to rip on Trump - but what the fuck have any of you done for this country? Bunch of whiney little children.
One of the few sensible ones!
@Trajan61 voted for Reagan, Bush (twice), Dole, Bush Jr (twice), and McCain. Became an independent when the nutjobs and religious fucktards turned the Republican party into something that's against the best interest of America. Nothing left but hillbillies and gun nuts. You two idiots have nothing to add to any conversation other than name calling. You lack any sort of ability to have a conversation with anyone outside of the conservative realm. You both define an individual by their political status.
