You could take a class here and there and work toward a degree. Don't have to jump in with both feet.

I recall being an honor student but in no way acted like one. A blue collar family and I went to community college against the wishes of my family, After getting an Associates degree I gave up and stayed home as a blue collar worker. Wow, two years past and I was not going anywhere so I gave my car and TV away and went to get my 4 year degree/ At that time it was a very worth while endeavor as it opened many doors. Now I sit and wish I had gone for my PHD

Kinda. I don't know if it would have ensured a better quality of life but a focused study might have augmented my cognitive skills. I know some guys are kicking themselves for not picking a major earlier than they did.
Funny how few regret not getting a trade. I think a trade would have made me far more useful.

I was never a great student and struggled in traditional classroom environments. I have about 68 college credits but no degree. Thought I wanted to be a geography major and went to 2 semesters at the University of CT. At the same time I was working part time as an Assistant manager at a radio shack. A customer came in and offered me a job in Telecom because of my Army background so I took it. It led to a string of jobs in the entertainment industry doing all kinds of backline support in staging, lighting, audio,video as well as being a lead event technician and running an Audio department for a large production company. I left the industry for health reasons and did carpentry work and interior remodeling for several years while volunteering at an animal shelter. This led to me learning to be a dog trainer and eventually to a partnership in a dog daycare boarding and training business. I have had close to 30 jobs in my life and have never felt that I needed a degree to do any of them. Would it have made life easier, possibly, but I have never been afraid to learn something new and reinvent myself and I have never been pigeon holed into being defined by my college degree as so many are these days. I am whoever I decide to be and whoever I can make myself into. I have never needed a slip of over priced paper to define my place in the world. I think once you have 10-15 years if verifiable work experience its a waste of time and money.

I'm going for my CDL CLASSA...ive always wanted to drive big rig. I'm recently seperated and think driving for weeks on end would be a great distraction

I've always had a problem with school. I find it dreadfully boring and I just can't concentrate on most subjects. Before the internet explosion, I would go to the local library and study topics that interested me. I practically lived at the library. Do you remember this scene from Good Will Hunting? This is definitely me!
