I think it's a mistake to think you're entitled to anything. You may be entitled in some theoretical sense, e.g., no one can legitimately dictate your feelings; however, people around you can and often do ignore or otherwise delegitimize them. You may be entitled to "the pursuit of happiness" but quite unable due to any number of things (like, say, physical or mental disability) to meaningfully pursue same. You may have dreams, but they may be foreclosed by age and sorrow or poverty or who knows what.
I think it's better to work with what you actually have, and not hold onto it very much. Then when it's ripped from your grasp, you loosely hold onto whatever is left and focus on what you have rather than on what you don't. I know that what I have can be taken from me for any reason or no reason and so am less offended when, inevitably, it happens.
You missed the point.. it's not about being entitled as it is to have access to these things. Always is a strong word on this meme. That is why I said, should. You are entitled to have your own dreams.. no one should knock them down. You should be entitled to have your beliefs, but not everyone has that opportunity. You should be entitled to have your freedom, not everyone gets to have that option. You are entitled to have your feelings, whoever trys to take that away is a bully. Opinions and values are something that is question everyday but people should be entitled to those, but that is a fine line to be crossed by many.
