What kind of genera are you looking for? Lots of great books, lots of great movies. If you want sci-fi/comedy/documentary/horror.... I can narrow it down to a few.

My favourite movie is “In The Heat Of The Night”, great script and acting from Poitier and Steiger, great atmospheric theme song (Ray Charles /Quincey Jones), topic ...racist attitudes in the Southern States of America and their stupidity, human connection between the unlikeliest pair and that uncomfortable truth that Steiger has more in common with Poitier than he feels comfortable acknowledging to himself. My favourite book is “ To Kill A Mockingbird “ by Harper Lee, again racism in the Southern States is it’s theme, this book is a modern masterpiece in my opinion, and should be required reading in all schools, everywhere. Incidentally, I am not American, but British.
