Anybody rarely eat fast food, then have a craving for something, get it and make up your mind not to waste your money. I've had a craving for a hamburger. So, I stopped at Wendy's and got one of their special sandwiches, some fries and a medium chocolate Frosty. I ate the fries on the way home. I ate the hamburger at home, finished it and thought how awful it tasted. I didn't even finish the Frosty. I know, now, not to waste my money on fast food. I would have been better off going and getting a Whopper or a Big Mac. At least, I know what they taste like. I probably should have gotten a plain Wendy's hamburger.

About once a year, I get a sourdough Jack and vanilla shake from Jack in the Box. After that I'm always sorry because it kills my stomach. I'm usually refined sugar, dairy and gluten free

Sometimes we have to cave to our cravings!! I tend to buy whatever it is that I might crave, and enjoy a bit of it. Then I'll stuff it into the pantry or frig, and try to ignore it. If I am successful, then I can finally throw it away (semi-guilt-free) when it is too disgusting to eat. Sure, it's a waste of money, but at least you have satisfied a craving, gotten the taste of that forbidden (for whatever reason) food, and not poisoned your body too horribly, lol!

Since age 24- when my father died of cancer- I have not eaten fast food, processed meats, deep fried food nor hamburger. Never drank soda pop. Raised my daughter the same way.

A few years ago, I took a tiny sip of Coke to see how it tasted. Spit it out immediately- a mouthful of nasty chemicals.

Don't miss it.

The last few years of so I have cut way back on red meat so burgers just make my stomach hurt now....my digestive system cannot handle them anymore I suppose. Once that story hit a few years ago about 'pink slime' being passed off as lower priced ground hamburger meat, I just didn't feel I could trust the quality of grocery store meat anymore either. And everything seems so salty to me now that I don't eat fast food very much anymore. I stick to the lunch salads and once in awhile I like those breakfast sandwiches with a biscuit and sausage patty....simple stuff that isn't overly processed.

@slydr68 Exactly. I call that 'beef by product'...not beef. Just like the chickens that are pumped with enhanced 'flavor'....so important to read the ingredients of your purchases so you're not getting sodium or who knows what as an additive to your meats.

I haven't eaten a hamburger in years, but if I was going to, it wouldn't be at Wendy's. As a matter of fact I ate at Wendy's one time decades ago, and never again.

I don't eat fast food at all. If I crave a burger, I make my own veggie burgers, and chop up potatoes or sweet potatoes into fries shape and throw into the oven. Mmmmmmm. Yummy. Don't even have to change out of my jammies to go anywhere to enjoy burgers and fries.

Do you add anything to the sweet potato fries? I'd like to try baking some in the oven.....I usually have them like a baked potato however. Do you spray the cooking sheet with vegetable oil cooking spray?

@mojo5501 I just grease the pan lightly with vegan margarine but I guess if you have non-stick cookie sheet or baking pan you might not have to. They tend to stick badly anyway (both kinds of potatoes). I just add Himalayan salt and pepper usually. Nothing fancy. It's harder to get them to be evenly crispy like if you deep fry them but I don't particularly care.

@graceylou Yum, thank you. I would rather not fry them either...even though I do like to get them as a treat sometimes as a substitute to french fried potatoes. (I have also heard they can be spiralized so that is my next food 'adventure'...ha ha. )

@mojo550 I’ve been trying to make my own chips in the oven (potatoes and other veggies) but they always turned up icky. Have not perfected those yet.

They are not any better.
