If you look at the Browse button there are loads of forums you can access util you get to a slightly higher level.
As PDX said like posts or comments.
Make a post or two on a topic you like.
And comment where you like. It doesn't take long to level.

It's simply to guard against scammers who could over run the site without safeguards.

And there are groups open to you... You can check out the Group list. Some are open to lower level members like the Newbie Group... Brb w/ a link... "Newbie Groupies!"
