someone mentioned Animal Farm in a post yesterday. i read it maybe 50 yrs ago.
this morn before i finally got up i was drifting in & out of consciousness & had an image of the special pigs in their big house sitting around a table laden with food & drink & gorging themselves while the ordinary pigs were out working hard on the farm. the fat pigs were laughing, shouting & enjoying themselves & the biggest, fattest, loudest pig of them all had orange hair.

in my darker moments i'm sure that a version of 1984 is inevitable. especially now as conditions are riper than ever. the US keeps up pressure on germany always threatening & bullying them. almost as if they're trying to push them into russia's arms: there's your eurasia. we already have oceanna & eastasia won't be far behind.

A great book ... and an important statement on society also.

I keep thinking it is amazing how relevant Orwell is today.

Then I think again, and realize it was very likely always relevant--that's why he wrote about these things to begin with.
