While taking a breather from politics, I was just wondering how many of you remember the first LP you ever owned? (Not necessarily bought) Bonus points for your first 45 / 7" single. Be honest, no poser answers like The Velvet Underground with Nico. I'll confess that my first LP was "The Partridge Family Album" and my first single was "Sugar Sugar" by The Archies. ( Don't count children's albums )
The first album I bought was Stay Hungry by Twisted Sister. I think the first single was Word Up by Cameo. My musical taste went downhill from there.
Jimmy Buffet, Changes in Lattitude. 45, something BeeGees.
My brother talked me into signing up for Columbia house, when I was about 8, so he could get some freebies. Still remember a few from that batch - KC & The Sunshine Band's Love Rollercoaster, ELO's Face the Music, and a Jim Croce best of. As far as 45's go, I think it was either something by Jim Stafford or Leo Sayer
First 45 : "Breaking up is hard to do" by Neil Sedaka; and first LP "This is Brenda" by Brenda Lee! I couldn't afford them but I requested them as birthday presents!
My first single was Rainbow Connection by Kermit the Frog. My first album was a collection of recording by Northern English colliery brass bands... I still like that sort of thing!
We have a very good local brass band in Sale. One of the advantages of living oop North.
My first album was James Taylor's Mud Slide Slim and the Blue Horizon. The double=sleeve cover was really beautiful.
My first 45 was Joe Cocker's version of You've Got A Friend. That caused an uproar in the house.
I had and loved James Taylor's Mud Slide Slim and the Blue Horizon
Rubber Soul. My brother in law gave it to me for mowing his yard.
