The Virginia Legislature is considering a bad bill to allow state-funded public schools to indoctrinate students with Bible classes. SB 1502 is part of a Christian fundamentalist nationwide legislative push called Project Blitz that seeks to inject state legislatures with a whole host of theocratic bills.
In theory, a public school Bible course may be permissible, but all too often, the youngest and most vulnerable students are targeted, only one religion’s holy book is selected, and there are no readings outside the Bible or other religious materials. Courts routinely rule that these courses are unconstitutional.

I don't think that Bible courses at a public school is a good idea or constitutional. However, I think that state subsidy of the secular part of education at religious schools is OK. Parents should get a voucher to cover the secular education, and as long as the children get educated appropriately the money should be paid.
