Fluoride the poison that the EPA has strict laws on disposing but it is consumed by the ton in toothpaste -
Another ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM.
[fluoridealert.org]
There is a lot of heated debate on this topic, but one VERY important thing is missing - DOSAGE.
For example, pain killers are useful, biy DOSAGE is important. The same applies to fluorides. Do you swallow flouride toothpaste? A minute quantity, perhaps. Since flioride toothpast contains one tenth of one percent flouride, and each "dose" of paste is small, where's the problem?
The same applies to water. I grew up in an area where the water was naturally higher in flourides than the municipal water!
Aha, so that explains it! And Big Dadda also drank the same water? ?
I read that in order to maintain sales in their cornflakes Kellogs poured money into finding a cure for teeth rotting out within 18 months of starting to consume the sugary product. The result was the push to mass medicate with fluoride in the water. The fact is that the improvement in dental health has also been coincindent with improved dental medicine and dental hygiene practice with toothbrushes and toothpastes is not without note.
@FrayedBear I lived in Kenya. We had Post Toasties and their corn flakes were definitely not laden with Fluorides. Yet Kenya was fluorinating the municipal water 70 years ago! When did Kellogs start adding Fluorine?
@Petter You misunderstand or I badly wrote - I heard that when Kellogs brought out their highly profitable and successful corn flakes there was a rapid increase in dental cavities. Rather than lose all that lovely profit they poured money into research to find an antidote. As far as I'm aware the fluoride was never added to the product - now that would have been a sensible move - let user pay.I thought this was post WWII but it may have been the thirties. From then on the campaign to fluoridate the world started. Kenya 70 years ago was still a British colony and therefore fair game for every social experiment going. The same as NZ, Australia, South Africa and Canada.
Oh, and before you tell me to 'do my research', I've got a question:
What is an ion?
If you can't answer that without looking it up, I feel more than comfortable ignoring your opinion on the neurobiological activity of fluorine salts.
Go one better - can he be positive about anions!
@Petter @MrBeelzeebubbles repeat of the above statement: I read that in order to maintain sales in their sugar laden cornflakes Kellogs poured money into finding a cure for teeth rotting out within 18 months of starting to consume the sugary product. The result was the push to mass medicate with fluoride in the water. The fact is that the improvement in dental health has also been coincindent with improved dental medicine and dental hygiene practice with toothbrushes and toothpastes is not without note. It seems however that lovers of fluoride ignore that fact. I wonder if the same benefit to teeth or greater would simply occur if a ban was placed on the addition of all sugar in processed foods?
@FrayedBear ah, failed the test then. So, yep, I'm going to give your opinions on fluoride the same amount of credence that I give to those that bang on about vaccines but can't tell me what shape an antibody is.
This is why basic science education is so important. It is an incredibly useful bullshit detector.
Tin foil hat level conspiracy bullshit. Sigh.
And the effect on your pineal gland? The following links to a video produced by far cleverer people than I. Please go and argue with them.
You are conveniently ignoring the fact that the removal of sugar from processed foods would just as likely improved dental hygiene possibly more than that claimed to derive from mass medication with fluoride.
It must really be slow acting as it's been in my water since 5 and now I am 80. No problem with my teeth however.
Lucky man. Your genes and sugar consumption also has a great deal to do with it.
@FrayedBear I do not knowingly consume sugar as I am diabetic.
@Marine I or II?
@FrayedBear two been controlled without insulin for 52 years by watching what I eat. A1c 6.2
@Marine Excellent. The have had me on a stuff from one of your native reptiles injected weekly. It works very well. A stuff called Bydureon. They say that I may have to come off it as mine has gone down from about 5.9 to 5.3 over the last 12 months. Prior to that it was in the 6's. It has not stopped my skin sensory losses though. It is annoying when a dried wound is found that you never felt happen.
And is in water much of the time
Sadly yes. And most toothpastes.
When I was an infant I had a severe allergic reaction to Penicillin and though I survived and recovered i was told I would never be able to use it as an antibiotic for the rest of my life.
Consequently when I has a severe bronchial infection a year of so later I was give a course of fluoridated antibiotics, which worked but when my adult teeth grew I was found to have severe Dental fluorosis resulting in extreme tooth and bone discolouration.
Since at the time it was the only alternate treatment available for my condition and it did save save my life there is no case for compensation, and on the upside I never needed a filling until I was in my forties. However I have never really believed that fluoridation of drinking water was a good idea because it was expressly told to my mother that flouride WOULD discolour my teeth but it was unavoidable. So it has been widely known at least since the 1950s.
The only reason it has been done in the UK and the USA that I can think of is the other medical properties of fluoride such as being a depressant (ironically a key ingredient in anti-depressants) an antibiotic and detoxin
And in Australia. I thinked banned in most countries though.
@FrayedBear
11 countries have more than 50% of their population drinking artificially fluoridated water:
Australia (80%),
Brunei (95%);
Chile (70%),
Guyana (62%),
Hong Kong (100%),
the Irish Republic (73%),
Israel (70%),
Malaysia (75%),
New Zealand (62%),
Singapore (100%),
the United States (64%).
in the UK the number is 10% but is rising, those who receive artificially fluoridated water are all in the North of England
However many countries including the UK permit natural calcium fluoride to remain in drinking water.
97–98% of Europe chooses not to do it, this number will rise when the UK leaves he EU as the UK permits local authorities to choose if they add fluoride or not to their water, but DO as is the case in the rest of Europe allow it to be added to non organic milk and salt at the manufacturer's discretion.
China is the only country to impose an outright ban on all forms of fluoridation of drinking water to the best of my knowledge.
It can only be concluded that some one somewhere is making a shit load of money out of this.
I had a relative whom worked as a supervisor at the (Major City) water department. He had a Poland Spring water bubbler to drink and cook from.
That filters the fluoride out?
@FrayedBear It was the kind that they deliver. A 4 or 5 gallon jug that sits upon a dispenser. He was the top supervisor and this made an impact on my views on potable water.
@Croebheir Perhaps he simply knew that his employees regularly urinated in the water supply after it had passed all the filters.
@FrayedBear He had respect for the City and the Environment, that wouldn't happen on his watch. Why would any worker do something like that anyhow? They'd get fired.
@Croebheir have you seen what happens to your steak when you send it back to the kitchen with complaint?
@FrayedBear I know what you mean. I did some cooking in my career and you just make a new one featuring the details that your customer orders. Though I have heard stories from the wait staff about dealing with a-holes. I even had issues with some of the other staff, but I never would mess with the food that I cooked for them. It was kind of like being on auto pilot when I was a cook, or for that matter any job I would do. Others may do these things you speak of, some of us are at the mercy of our vendors.
@Croebheir And I suspect still have respect for customer service, company honour and most importantly personal honour and self respect.
I recall in "Food Glorious Food" someone posted a video of a returned steak being wiped on the floor and the inside of a toilet bowl.
