A Conservative couldn't help but tell me I was wrong about how I wanted to handle the poor. Us "Libruuls..." he told me, just want to give away gummint handouts.

So I told him... "You all sing the song of Cain. “Am I my brother's keeper?” I know the answer. I AM!"

Caring for the poor - today as it was in Jesus day, wasn't just about feeding and clothing. It's about the systems that kept people poor in the first place.

When Jesus attacked the money-changes, it wasn't because they were exchanging coins so that pilgrims could buy their sacrifices. It wasn't because it was illegal. It wasn't.

It was the collusion between the gummint (the Temple) and the Romans (Wall Street) to keep systems in place that “looked” religious but served only to create wealth for the people at the top, and keep those at the bottom poor. Jesus intended to send a message, which seemed to get through loud and clear...

In the United Sates it's a little different. WE are the gummit: For the people, OF the people, and BY the people. They want to call us a Christian government, but Jesus would never tolerate their grasp on power.

If I may quote the creator of Christianity:
When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me.

Time to put your childish thinking away, put on your big-boy chaps, and start standing up for justice.
