I am the son of a preacher woman. And brother of a couple of ministers in church. After a lifetime of being in the church I still don't believe in Christianity. Are there others here that have parents the are priests, pastors etc?
Not a priest or pastor, but my dad was very active in the church when I was growing up. He was on the finance committee and in the choir. He seemed to always be involved with something there.
I don't have any in my family but kudos to you. I presume you must get a lot of pressure from them.
I was abused for years by an older brother. He then got "saved" and eventually became a leader of his church. To this day I loath him even though he was killed in a car accident several years ago. Never once did he apologize to me and always tried to brow beat me every time we saw each other. He didn't dare touch me since I grew up. I would have enjoyed beating him to a pulp like he used to do to me.
I didn't have parents that were preachers, but my grandmother was very upset that none of her grandchildren became priests/nuns.
I did have an uncle that was a Baptist preacher. From what I understand, he became one because he thought he could make a lot of money doing that. He must have not been very good because he was only in it for a few years. He's still a conservative, religious asshole though.
I have a friend that did all the right moves, graduated from Bob Jones U, and came to realize he realized there is no God. He is haunted by it with every move he makes.
