Portland has become a great city. I remember it when it was a small, backwater town. It's funny but as liberal as Portland is right across the river is Vancouver which is very conservative.
@ToolGuy Interesting but I am talking about the other Vancouver - Washington.
Portland, where everyone can be a victim.
I am curious, why would you state that?!?
Definitely heartening that there is recognition we all deserve peace of mind.
How sad is it that a city Council has to pass an ordinance like this? Just treat people with dignity and respect and everyone can be happy and get along.
If only people really did respect others and their beliefs....
Indeed, but followers of some religions love impose their own bias and priorities and deflect responsability so called religious doctrine "made them do it".
Meanwhile they spew hate in the form of religious rights.
This sets the ground work frame traditionally "protected" acts in favor of the religiosity over the persecuted. This seems be because of their "right" surpress and or block social services others or wilfully refuse do the job role they are for.
On an aside, why isn't this same moral conviction not taken for police officers suppressing peaceful protests, subduing a young teen of color with bullets over cuffs, or federal agents locking up children in metal cages?
Why is it these religious warriors bravely block marriage certificates, cut budgets social programs, and indirectly undermine social programs?
Protecting those who do not side with a religiosity equally and judging who is in the right and who is in the wrong. Maybe, just maybe based on who is doing the greater damage than who is standing on a book of stories.
