A Great Day for Grandparenting
Giovanni and I drove down the thruway to traffic court in a town near Buffalo. He got a speeding ticket for doing 80 in a 65 zone. He did brilliantly in front of the judge, had his mocving violation reduced to the parking violation and a $100 fine. We had lunch at Bob Evans and drove back home talking about everything, from his job to his girl friend. Wow. Bonding. This kid grew into a 6'4" viking while I was not looking. Now, if he could just keep his foot off the gas pedal. We concluded the day with a visit to the local wine shop where I recommended some red wine to him. I am going to stop worrying about this one. He will be all right.
I will never lecture my kids or grandkids on speeding. Grammy has a lead foot. I've had a few speeding tickets, and the odds are good that I will have a few more. I just have to remember to stay the heck out of small towns. The cops are bored and looking for a city slicker to pull over. Our license plates are numbered per county: county number then dash then more numbers. In the urban areas we have three letters dash three numbers, so it is easy to spot the out of town cars.
That is real love....right there in your post!
